For the first time

Her hands weren't held so tight

By one another

For the first time

I saw her shoulders relax

And her jaw released

From the digging of teeth

Below in above

For the first time

It was as if

She wasn't apologizing for the space

She took in the world

She wasn't taking much anyway

She seemed to be okay

On the velvet and the wood

It was as if she was meant to be there

As if she belonged

In the coffin

As if she was home

And could finally rest

The first time that I saw her at peace

Was when she wasn't

At all
