Gestures of closure
Medium: Water color, ink on paper
Size: 8.3*11.7in cartridge sheets
My project is a collection of monochromatic sketches of everyday gestures, often unnoticed, we make that show our realization of the end of an activity. These include - closing a running tap, switching lights off, putting the chair back in, removing spectacles after reading and more.
The origin of this project lies in a farewell cup I received from someone dear to me before we parted our ways for different cities. The gift depicted the end of a phase in my life and helped me gain awareness of the countless goodbyes we say to people, phases and also to the smallest of day to day activities. I have made this project to share my observations of such gestures of closure and collectively recollect and appreciate the innumerable journeys we take through our journey of life.
